What is a moderator?
A moderator works to keep conversations flowing, helps to answer or find
people with the answers for posts made in his or her folder. Throughout
the process, the moderators will try to always have some interesting
topics to post if the conversations get slow.
How does a moderator keep things flowing?
In addition to having topics when the folder is slow, the moderator also
keeps everything organized when things are moving. The moderator can
archive old conversations, move conversations accidentally placed in
his/her folder or delete posts made in error.
Who is a candidate for a moderator position?
Moderators are chosen for each folder. Anyone who has established a
comfortable level of expertise within a chosen folder should apply for a
moderator position. Besides knowledge, individuals becoming moderators
should enjoy hosting, helping and participating among members.
How long is the moderator position and am I
locked into it?
Undefined and no. You are not locked into being a moderator. However, we
suggest a two week trial followed by a 2 month term. You are not required
to finish a term, but it is a suggested length of time to help us plan
your succession appropriately. Successive terms are available however you
may choose to rotate with others who have also requested an opportunity to
moderate in the folder. Temporary moderators can be assigned during times
you are on vacation or otherwise unavailable during your term.
Will people know I am the moderator?
Yes. As moderator we ask that you sign your posts with your name, lab or
company name and the moderator title.
What does a moderator get in return?
This is a fun way to meet people in your industry around the nation and
the world. Moderators are rewarded with the goodwill brought onto them by their
contribution of their valuable time and knowledge. Additionally moderators
may enjoy a possible heightened awareness of both themselves and their
business. It sure makes going to trade shows more fun!
How do I contact someone about becoming a
moderator?
We ask that you kindly send your request via email to admin@dentallabforum.com.
Please be sure to include information about yourself such as your professional
biography and personal interests as well as the folder you are interested
in moderating. If you have a C.V. or resume please include that as
well. This information is important since it will be posted in your
moderator biography where people can learn more about you. We will contact
you shortly after receiving your request to discuss your participation.
